Bringing Pulaski County into the 21st Century

On Tuesday, February 12, 2008 I will sponsor a resolution to show the Quorum Courts commitment to bring Pulaski County into the 21st century. The resolution is to build a system and purchase equipment for video arraignments between the courts and the Pulaski County detention center. This was listed as one of the items needed on the UALR public safety study, and was also recommended by a committee of our circuit judges, to help save time, money, and most of all increase public safety. This resolution is the first step in updating an antiquated system for prisoner arraignments and transportation to and from the courthouse. It is estimated to save the county approximately 197,000 in fuel, equipment and labor costs. I estimate the system should be up and running and in use by the courts by mid 2008.
As your public servant, I will continue to seek ways to save the taxpayers money and to make government run more efficiently. Soon we will pay off the construction loans used to remodel the prosecutors building and free up funds to open more beds at the county jail.
